Who we are

Abacus Voucher Solutions is the trading name of Plain Solutions LLP, a partnership between Anthony Rentoul and Charlotte Huttner.

Anthony Rentoul was admitted a solicitor in 1967. He has many years' banking, general management and legal experience in a number of companies, listed and private, limited and unlimited.

Charlotte Huttner has a background in website development, working in sectors as diverse as financial services in the City of London, UK government and retail.

Why another childcare voucher solution in a crowded market?

Abacus came about because of a perceived need for a cost-effective way for businesses of any size to operate their own childcare voucher scheme. Employers have been put off operating their own scheme because of the supposed complexity. But self-operation of a scheme, entailing no more work than liaising with a conventional voucher provider, is now easily achieved. Our fees, based on headcount, result in big savings for employers when compared with the commission, typically 4% - 9%, charged by a voucher provider.

Anthony Rentoul's involvement as chairman of a group of independent schools led him to develop a solution, initially for them. Since then the product has been developed as one suitable for any employer, irrespective of size or sector.
